RESTORATIVE YOGA

Restorative yoga is a slower, more restful and passive approach to yoga which is intended to reduce muscle tension, alleviate stress and relax your body. Restorative yoga incorporates many of the fundamental poses and practices of other types of yoga, but the intention is different. Rather than building strength or having quick transitions between poses, restorative yoga is about deep mental and physical relaxation – restoring the body. Positions are held longer allowing muscles to stretch more deeply, releasing the tension. Focused breathing furthers the connection between mind and body cultivating an overall sense of relaxation. Yoga blocks, pillows, bolsters and blankets are often used to support the body during certain poses. Restorative yoga is the perfect prescription for mental catharsis, muscle relaxation and stress relief.
